Alpenglow acquired its first two railroads in July 2017. The company acquired VIP Rail ULC, strategically located in the heart of Sarnia, Ontario’s chemical valley.
VIP Rail’s two properties switches over 30,000 carloads per year, transloads bulk liquids, stores over 1,450 railcars, provides railcar repair and cleaning, and offers warehousing and trucking solutions to a blue-chip refinery and petrochemical customer base, including Imperial Oil / Exxon, Shell, Ineos Styrolution, Suncor, and several others.
In October 2022, Alpenglow acquired Alberta Midland Railway Terminal. Alpenglow has rebranded Alberta Midland Railway Terminal under the VIP Rail brand. This 1,650 railcar spot terminal connect to both the CN and CPKC Railways, switches over 20,000 carloads per year, and serves many of the same companies as VIP Rail, creating unique synergies amongst the three businesses.

VIP Sarnia
VIP Rail Sarnia is a 50 acre heavy industrial zoned site located at 300 Kenny Street, Sarnia, Ontario. It is served by CN Railway. VIP Rail Sarnia directly shares a property boarder or is in very close proximity to many of Sarnia’s largest refining and petrochemical facilities, including Imperial Oil, Styrolution, ArLanxeo, Cabot Corporation, and others.
VIP Rail Sarnia has four locomotives, 950 railcar storage spots, 115,000 square feet of warehouse space, several transload platforms that can handle hazardous materials, liquids and dry bulk commodities, lay-down space that can accommodate project cargo and over-sized equipment handling, and several other unique qualities that makes VIP Rail the preferred partner for all of Sarnia’s chemical valley’s transportation needs.
VIP Corunna
VIP Rail Corunna is a 112 acre heavy industrial zoned site located at 220 St Clair Pky RR 2, Corunna, Ontario. It is served by CSX Railroad and is located three miles south of the VIP Rail Sarnia site. VIP rail Corunna directly shares a property boarder with Shell, and is in very close proximity to many refining and petrochemical facilities, including Nova Chemical, DuPont, Pembina and others.
VIP Rail Corunna has 500 railcar storage spots, several transload platforms that can handle hazardous materials, liquids and dry bulk commodities, liquids storage tank infrastructure, available parcels of land for sale or lease, and many other unique attributes.
VIP Rail Alberta Midland
VIP Rail Alberta Midland is a 300 acre site located at 554051 Range Road 201, Lamont County, Alberta. VIP Rail Alberta Midland offers customers over 1,650 railcar storage spots and a unit train capable loop track. With connections to both the CN and CPKC Railways, VIP Rail Alberta Midland is the only dual-served rail terminal within Alberta’s Industrial Heartland. The company specializes in safely providing railcar staging and storage-in-transit, switching, transloading, and railcar cleaning & repair to industrial customers within Canada’s leading refining and petrochemical hub.
Alpenglow acquired two rail terminals in July 2020. Alpenglow executed an add-on acquisition in Orange, Texas in December 2021.

USA Rail Port Arthur is a 51 acre site located off of HWY 73, strategically located within the Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas refinery and petrochemical complex. It is served by KCS Railroad, and surrounded by many blue-chip industrial players, including Indorama, Exxon, Chevron, Motiva, Total, and BASF, among others.
USA Rail Port Arthur has two locomotives, over 1,000 railcar storage spots, switches over 25,000 carloads per year, and provides a full suite of rail services.
USA Rail Orange
USA Rail Orange is a 130 acre rail terminal well positioned in the growing petrochemical corridor between Beaumont, Texas and Lake Charles, Louisiana. USA Rail Orange is dual served by the Union Pacific and BNSF Railroads. Orange Rail is capable of handling 120 car unit trains with its double loop track design and offers railcar storage switching, transloading, cleaning and other services to its industry leading customers.
